Alejandro Goyen Fros,
Product Manager at
Google Inc.,
San Francisco Bay Area
Alejandro Goyen specializes in software development and technology management. He began his
career as a hobbyist C/C++ and machine language (Motorola
680x0) programmer. At age 19, he landed his first job, where he designed and
developed an intrusion detection system for
Uruguay's Electronic Stock Exchange.
Prior to his work as Program Manager in the Windows
Client team at Microsoft (2001-2005), Alejandro founded AGF Consulting Group
(1998-2001), an independent consulting firm that provided software
development and project outsourcing services to the public and private
sector of Uruguay.
AGF designed, developed, and deployed software for the financial sector,
and provided software consulting services to leading companies including
Bank Boston, BEVSA, Internet startups (including Interactive Networks
Inc.), and several government agencies. AGF's mission-critical software,
certified by Bank Boston and Visa International, are still in production
today, running 24/7. In the past Alejandro worked closely with the
software development community, particularly during his time as
Microsoft MSDN Regional Director for
Uruguay, Paraguay,
and Bolivia
(1999-2000).
While
participating in a student exchange program in the
US (1997), Alejandro worked as Software Design
Engineer intern at Microsoft's headquarters in
Redmond. Alejandro holds a Computer Science
Engineering degree from Universidad Catolica del Uruguay (Class of
2001), where he authored his thesis entitled "Problems and Solutions in
the implementation of Extreme Programming (XP)". Alejandro represented
Microsoft at XP Universe for two consecutive years (2003-2004) and is the
creator/moderator of the
XP Spanish Yahoo Discussion Group.
Alejandro is a graduate of the
Harvard Business
School (MBA'07). During
the summer of 2006, he interned at McKinsey & Company,
where he helped develop the 3-5 year strategic plan for a leading
utility company in Latin America.
In July 2007, he joined Google's Partner Solutions Organization, a partner-facing technology group that develops
solutions and builds enduring relationships with Google's top strategic partners.
